In 2021, the FRAC-Artothèque Nouvelle-Aquitaine is launching a new program: les Apprenti·e·s collectionneur·se·s.
Les Apprenti·e·s collectionneur·se·s, is a proposal for a convivial adventure to meet contemporary creation. A new experience to date in the field of public institutions, the program unfolds inn Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
The adventure takes place over four years during which the apprentice collectors will discover artists, gallery owners, art critics and independent curators. They will participate in regional, national and international events such as exhibitions, fairs and biennials. Accompanied and advised by Émilie Flory, curator and art critic, the Apprenti·e·s collectionneur·se·s meet regularly to exchange, choose and acquire a work of art.
With Les Apprenti·e·s collectionneur·se·s, the FRAC-Artothèque is committed to accompanying people in an amateur practice. Conceived as an experimental program based on learning, hospitality and social commitment, it accompanies each participant in a process of acquisition for cultural rather than speculative purposes and positions the work of art as an accessible cultural asset.
During the Apprenti·e·s collectionneur·se·s’ adventure, the FRAC-Artothèque will build a program open to all. Meetings, debates, and feedback on the various issues related to public and private collections will take place regularly at different sites.
We are pleased to announce today the official constitution of the first group of Apprenti·e·s-collectionneur·se·s of the FRAC-Artothèque Nouvelle-Aquitaine !
